CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Over 130 women gathered in the lobby of the Boydston Center at SIU Arena Thursday night to attend the annual Saluki Football Women's Clinic hosted by head coach Dale Lennon and his wife, Chris.

The event, in its tenth year of existence, opened with remarks from Chris Lennon.

“This event is designed so each participant is able to interact with the coaches and players as well as gain a better understanding about the game of football.”

Five different stations were set up around the Saluki Way facilities that were run by SIU position coaches and players to further educate women about the game of football and give them an inside look into the Salukis' game plan heading into the 2013 season.

The three-hour clinic featured a question and answer session with Saluki support staff and coaches, as well as lessons on offense, defense and special teams.

The women's clinic was sponsored by Boondocks Seafood Co., Shawnee Winery Cooperative, Keoner Distributor, 710 Bookstore and Jim and Vicki Blair.

All proceeds from Thursday's event will go towards purchasing SIU football tickets for underprivileged youth.

The Saluki Football team will play its annual Spring Game on Friday at 7 p.m. at Saluki Stadium, marking the 15th and final team session of the spring season.
