CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Southern Illinois University football team has set the game times for its six home games for the upcoming 2014 season. The home slate will feature five night games and one day game at Saluki Stadium.

“After engaging our fans, students, alumni and community members this offseason, a common request was for more night games,” SIU Director of Athletics Mario Moccia said. “With that in mind, our first five home games will be played under the lights. It was also important to add a sixth home game for the second consecutive year, which we were able to do with the addition of the opener against Taylor.”

SIU will open the season at home against Taylor University on Thursday, Aug. 28 with a 7 p.m. kickoff. Prior to the game, all freshmen will be invited to participate in the third annual Saluki Sprint across the field.

The Salukis’ second nonconference home game will be Saturday, Sept. 13 at 6 p.m. against Southeast Missouri State. It will be Military Appreciation Night. The Traveling Vietnam Wall Memorial will be in town all weekend and on display Saturday.

SIU will open the Missouri Valley Football Conference season with back-to-back 6 p.m. home games against Western Illinois and South Dakota on Saturday, Sept. 27 and Saturday, Oct. 4, respectively. The Western Illinois game will take place on Family Weekend and feature the fourth annual Black Out Cancer game.

Following a pair of road games, the Salukis will host Indiana State for Homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 6 p.m.

The Dawgs will wrap up the home portion of their schedule with Senior Day on Saturday, Nov. 15 with a 2 p.m. game against Northern Iowa.

Season tickets can be purchased online at, in person at the ticket window in the south lobby of SIU Arena or by calling 877-SALUKIS.
