CARBONDALE, Ill. - Single-game tickets for the 2013 Southern Illinois football season are on sale now. Tickets can be purchased on-line at SIUSalukis.com, in-person at the ticket office at the South entrance to SIU Arena, or by calling 1-877-SALUKIS. Season ticket packages are also still available.

SIU will play six home games at Saluki Stadium this year, starting with the home opener on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 6 p.m. against Eastern Illinois. The game will feature the third annual Saluki Sprint during which members of the class of 2017 will make the traditional pregame sprint across the field. It will also be Social Media Night. Fans are encouraged to use the hashtag #salukis during the week leading up to the game, and the best posts will make it onto the video board during the game.

The following Saturday, the Salukis will welcome the University of Charleston to town for a 2 p.m. game. It will be a celebration of 100 years of Saluki Football as the All-Century team is recognized.

Southern will open the Missouri Valley Football Conference schedule at home against Youngstown State on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 6 p.m. It will be Family Weekend, and that morning SIU and The Southern will host the third annual Saluki Kickoff 5K. Runners and walkers can register at www.thesouthern.com/kickoff.

In addition, the Youngstown State game will be the third annual Salukis Blackout Cancer game, presented by SIU and Southern Illinois Healthcare. Fans can bid to place their name or the name of a loved one affected by cancer on the back of one of the 80 special black jerseys the Salukis will wear during the game. The game-worn jerseys will be given to successful bidders following the game. All funds raised from the auction will go toward SIH’s plans to build a new cancer treatment center in southern Illinois, the SIH Cancer Center. Bids can be placed at www.salukisblackoutcancer.com.

The Salukis will be home again on Saturday, Oct. 19 for the homecoming game against North Dakota State. All Salukis fans are asked to wear their best mustache to the game to give the power of the ’stache back to Coach Dale Lennon and the Salukis. Fans will receive free mustaches at the gate, and there will also be a best mustache contest.

SIU will wrap up the home portion of its regular season schedule with games on back-to-back weekends. Missouri State will be in town on Saturday, Nov. 9 for Military Appreciation Day, and the Salukis will host intrastate rival Illinois State on Saturday, Nov. 16 for Senior Day. Check www.siusalukis.com for more upcoming information on these events.
