ST. LOUIS - Southern Illinois senior quarterback Kory Faulkner has been named the Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in SIU’s road victory over No. 7 South Dakota State.

Faulkner accounted for all three of SIU’s touchdowns in Saturday’s 27-24 upset of SDSU. The senior captain threw for 185 yards. His lone touchdown pass was a 59-yard completion to John Lantz to tie the game at 17-17 on the first drive of the second half. Faulkner also added a pair of rushing touchdowns, his first two of the season.

Faulkner is the third Saluki to earn MVFC weekly honors this season and the first SIU player to be selected MVFC Offensive Player of the Week since Chris Dieker did so in the final week of the 2010 season.
