    ST. LOUIS - Tyler Williamson has been named Missouri Valley Football Conference Defensive Player of the Week. The sophomore linebacker led Southern Illinois with a career-high seven solo tackles in the Salukis’ 17-0 upset win at No. 9 Illinois State on Saturday.

    In a breakout performance, he also recorded a sack and his first career interception. Thrust into a bigger role as the Dawgs battled minor in-game injuries, the sophomore made big plays all over the field and also recorded two tackles for loss.
