ST. LOUIS – Southern Illinois junior kicker Thomas Kinney has been named Missouri Valley Football Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in SIU’s 34-28 win over Western Illinois on Saturday.

In the game, Kinney hit both of his field goal attempts, including a career-long 52-yarder. The 52-yard field goal was one yard shorter than the longest by an FCS kicker this season and tied for the second-longest in school history. In addition, he converted all four of his PATs and delivered four touchbacks on seven kickoffs.

Kinney is the fifth Saluki to earn conference player of the week honors this season.
