    2005-06: Transferred to SIU after the men's golf team was discontinued at Southeast Missouri State... Competed in all but one event in his first year on the team... Finished the season with a 76.54 stroke average in 26 rounds played... Recorded his best finish of the season in his debut as a Saluki, coming in a tie for eighth at the Butler Fall Invitational... His best round was a 2-under-par 70 in the second round of the Joe Agee Invitational... Finished tied for 17th at the MVC Championship.

    Southeast Missouri State: Compiled a 73.8 stroke average in 27 rounds over nine events for the Redhawks, finishing second on the team in scoring average... Finished in the top 20 six times, including two top-five finishes... Best finish came in a tie for third at the Belmont Invitational... His 209 at the Belmont Invitational tied the team-low... Schmitz carded a 67 in the first round of the Belmont Invitational, setting a new career low.

    As a prep: Attended Life Christian High School in St. Louis... Won the individual state champion (MCHSAA) in 2001 and 2003... Team also won MCHSAA championships in 2001 and 2003...
