    PINEVILLE, Ky. - The Southern Illinois men's golf team is tied for fourth place after two rounds at the Wasioto Winds Fall Kick-Off in Pineville, Ky. Jake Erickson shot a 69 in the second round and leads SIU at even par through two rounds.

    Southern is tied with University of the Cumberlands for the fourth spot, six shots behind third-place Lipscomb. Erickson's 69 in the second round was his fifth career round in the 60s, tying him for sixth in school history.

    SIU shot a 290 in the second round, which was the third-best second round score in the tournament, trailing only the top-two schools, Murray State and UT Martin, in the 14-team, 94-player tournament.

    Jeffrey Miller is tied for 19th after carding a two-round total of 147. Miller is in the top 10 in the tournament in both Par 4 scoring and total pars. Brandon Cauldwell (149) is third for SIU and two strokes behind Miller. Drew Novara scored back-to-back 76s in his first two collegiate rounds. Joe Goelzhauser rounded out the Saluki Five with a 153, improving his score seven strokes after an opening-round 80. Ryan Haxel, another freshman, shot a 154 in his first two collegiate rounds competing as an individual.

    The start was delayed about an hour due to heavy fog. SIU carded a 299 as a team in the first round and were tied for eighth place with Eastern Illinois. Cauldwell and Miller led the Salukis after the first round, both carding 74s in the first round.

    Murray State leads the tournament by 11 strokes over UT Martin. Hunter York (Murray State) and Tyler Shellnut (UT Martin) lead the tournament at seven-under-par.

    The Salukis will play one more round tomorrow, starting at approximately 8:30 a.m. CT.
