    The Southern Illinois men's golf team stands sixth out of nine teams after Day 1 at the Jim Colbert Intercollegiate, hosted by Kansas State in Manhattan, Kan.

    The Salukis are 45-over par, posting team scores of 317 and 304 in the two rounds of play on Monday. The host Wildcats lead the pack at 22-over at the lengthy 7,525-yard, par-72 Colbert Hills Golf Course.

    SIU's top scorer so far is Steven Souchek, who shot rounds of 77 and 75, good for 10th place out of 53 golfers. His 3-over second round was Southern's best 18-hole score. Rounding out the scoring for the Salukis were Wade Thompson (10-over), Drew Novara (12-over) and Ryan Haxel (18-over).

    The final round of the tournament will begin Tuesday morning.
