    Former Southern Illinois University men's golfer Brian Norman will compete at the 2014 PGA Championship that begins tomorrow at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Ky.

    Norman, who golfed at SIU from 2003-05 and twice earned All-Missouri Valley Conference honors, was one of 20 club professionals to qualify for the prestigious PGA tournament. He is currently the associate golf pro at The Lakes at Castle Hills in Lewisville, Texas. More than 300 club pros competed for the 20 slots available at the PGA Championships.

    The 32-year-old Henderson, Ky. native still ranks second all-time in career stroke average at SIU (73.25). His 72.70 stroke average in 2004 stands as the best in school history. He also holds the school mark for low 18-hole round with a 64 at the Harris Fall Classic on Sept. 14, 2004.

    Norman is in the first group with Roberto Castro (United States) and Russell Knox (Scotland) that tees off a 6:30 a.m. CT. TNT will begin television coverage at noon CT.
