ST. LOUIS - Southern Illinois senior Brandon Cauldwell has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday. Cauldwell received the honor for the second time this season and the third time in his career.

Cauldwell is coming off a second-place performance at the Skyhawk Fall Classic on Oct. 8-9, where he broke the school record for career sub-68 rounds with a 67 in the second round. Cauldwell is the only golfer in school history to post three sub-68 rounds in a career.

Cauldwell also earned MVC Golfer of the Week laurels after winning the Purdue/Midwest Shootout earlier this fall. He has finished among the top three individuals at three of the last four tournaments for SIU. With a three-round total of 211 at the Skyhawk Fall Classic on Monday and Tuesday, Cauldwell broke his Saluki-best three-round score by three strokes.

The conference honor is the third of Cauldwell's career, which matches Jake Erickson for most on the team. Erickson earned the honor three times in 2011-12. Todd Obergoenner, Brian Norman, Brian Kolmer and Kyle Hosick are the only other golfers in school history to earn the honor three times in a career. No one has earned MVC Golfer of the Week honors four times.

The Salukis are back in action on Oct. 22-23 for the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate, hosted by Austin Peay.
