    LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Southern Illinois University men's tennis team opened the season with a rocky start Friday afternoon as they were swept by the University of Louisville, 7-0.

    Junior Lukasz Soswa and sophomore Bojan Ilievski began the day losing a tough doubles match against Louisville's Jhonny Berrido and Javier Herrera, 8-6, at the No. 1 spot. Juniors Julian Botero and Alexandru Nomicos also came up short at No. 2 doubles, losing 8-3 to Jakob Gustafsson and Damar Johnson.

    In singles play, the Salukis continued to struggle as senior Peter Bong was defeated 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 1 singles spot by Berrido, while Nomicos lost 6-3, 6-2 at the two spot to Johnson. Illevski fell quickly at No. 3 to Matt Mayer, 6-1, 6-1, and sophomore Tomas Gonzalez lost his battle with Gustafsson, 6-3, 6-2.

    At No. 5 singles, Soswa was defeated by Jeremy Clark by a score of 6-1, 6-4, with Botero being knocked out by Fadi Zamjaoui, 6-4, 6-3.

    The Salukis will try to bounce back tomorrow as they travel to Richmond, Ky.,were they are scheduled to play three matches in two days. Results can be found at
