CARBONDALE,Ill.--The Southern Illinois men's tennis team (8-2) continued their winning streak Sunday topping Chicago State 6-1.

The Salukis had a quick turnaround from their late night match with UIC beginning the day with a slow start.

"We had a sluggish start with the late match last night and an early one this morning coupled with a time change," said SIU head coach Dann Nelson. "No excuses though-some of us had to win ugly but we were able to take the match."

The SIU doubles teams continued to dominate their opponents as Jonny Rigby and Badr Cherradi took their match 8-0 and Jorge Cavero and Szymon Opieczonek won their 8-4.

Southern Illinois struggled in the singles competition but was able to come away with four of their five matches.

The Salukis will have a week off before hosting Creighton and Northern Illinois March 23-24.
