DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Southern Illinois men's tennis team fell 7-0 to a dominant, 49th-ranked Drake squad today at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

The Salukis (7-12, 1-2 MVC), who had won two in a row, were cooled off by the overwhelming Bulldogs (21-2, 4-0 MVC), who have won over 79 percent of their matches in both singles and doubles this dual match season and sit atop the Missouri Valley.

Junior Badr Cherradi was looking to avenge a loss to DU's top player Anis Ghorbel at the MVC Individual Championships (who was ranked No. 51 at the time), but fell short, taking Ghorbel into an extra point in the second set before succumbing, 6-2, 7-5.

"Today, we just ran into a really good Drake team," said head coach Dann Nelson. "Being able to split this road trip has been beneficial to us. We're 1-2 in conference now, and we have to be ready to play Bradley and Illinois State this weekend, two very tough matches that will determine our seeding."

The Salukis return home next weekend for their final homestand of the season, playing host to Bradley and Illinois State on April 21 and 22, respectively.
