    Tournament Results Get Acrobat Reader

    DES MOINES, Iowa—The Southern Illinois University men’s tennis team completed day two of play at the Missouri Valley Conference Individual Championship on Saturday.

    The three-day tournament began Friday morning and will conclude Sunday afternoon. Rigby opened competition on Friday defeating Erik Brunskog of Illinois State 6-2, 6-3 to advance to play Grant Tesmer of Drake. Rigby topped Tesmer 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 to advance to the singles quaterfinal match.

    On Saturday, Rigby found success against Ilija Curic of Wichita State in the quarterfinal winning 6-4, 6-4. The sophomore continued his winning ways in the semi-final match besting Matt Frost of Drake, taking the match 7-6 (6), 6-4.

    Jonny Rigby will contend for a MVC Singles Championship on Sunday morning taking on Alen Salibasic of Drake.

    The Salukis also found success in the doubles bracket on Saturday with Jonny Rigby and Michal Kianicka advancing to the semi-finals. Rigby and Kianicka will compete against the duo of Torrellas/Eisner of Illinois State Sunday morning for a chance to advance to the championship match.

    Competition at the MVC Individuals concludes on Sunday (Nov. 10) with doubles action getting underway at 9:00 a.m.
