CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University men's tennis has signed Jonny Rigby to the 2012-13 campaign.

Rigby, a native of Lancashire, England, was a four-sport athlete in high school and at Winstanley College in badminton, soccer and cross country, in addition to tennis. Some of his tennis accolades include being on the same Lancashire county team with current ITF Junior No. 3 Liam Broady and advancing to the final 16 of the national Road to Wimbledon tournament. Rigby is also currently the No. 1 singles player in Lancashire county and the No. 6 singles player in all of England in the under-18 division rankings by LTA/AEGON.

"I think Jonny Rigby is exactly what we need," said head coach Dann Nelson. "He plays an aggressive style of tennis and he had some very good results back home in England. He's been the best player in Lancashire for several years, and I think he'll be a good addition."
