    CARBONDALE, Ill.-- The Southern Illinois University men’s tennis team is set to open their fall season this weekend at the MTSU Dale Short Shootout.

    The Salukis will travel to Murfreesboro, Tenn. and open play on Friday at the Buck Bouldin Tennis center on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University.

    Southern will face a field of competitors from UAB, Lipscomb, and host MTSU.

    The Salukis return seven players for the 2012-13 season including senior trio Orhan Spahic, Brandon Florez, and Badr Cherradi. Jonny Rigby joins SIU in his freshman season.

    The Dale Short Shootout will conclude Sunday afternoon.
