CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University's men's and women's cross country teams head to Peoria for the NCAA Midwest Cross Country Regional Saturday at Newman Golf Course. The 5K women's race will start at 11 a.m., with the 8K men's jaunt to follow at noon.

The field includes 28 men's teams and 30 women's teams, and the Midwest Regional is one of nine regionals being held. The top two teams and four individuals from each regional advance to the NCAA Championship which is hosted by Indiana State on Nov. 22 in Terre Haute, Ind.

For SIU, every runner that competed at the 2004 Missouri Valley Conference Championships will compete this weekend, with the exception of Jessica Ordway.

On the men's side, Eli Baker, Joe Byrne, Rob Duncan, Diarmuid Grant, Tony LaChiana, Hunter Sheldon, Kyle Monroe and Thomas Gentry will run for the Dawgs.
 

 

Meanwhile, Brittani Christensen, Lindsay Wagner, Sarah Rinker, Cherylynn Schilling, Katie Birn, Noa Beitler and Shelby Brice represent the Saluki women.
