NORMAL, Ill.-- Southern Illinois (2-11, 1-3) remains on the road to face Illinois State (9-5, 3-2) in Missouri Valley Conference action on Sunday, Jan. 18. Tip off is set for 4:05 p.m., at Redbird Arena.

SIU, who has never lost on the road against ISU under head coach Lori Opp, will look to win its fourth straight at Redbird Arena.

Sunday's matchup, however, will be a challenge for SIU, as the Redbirds have turned the corner under first-year head coach Robin Pingeton. Currently in fourth-place among league contenders, ISU is a near-perfect 7-1 at home this season.

Averaging 72.6 points per game, ISU is led by junior forward Katie Donovan who is averaging an impressive 20.6 points per game. Donovan has served as the 'Birds' leading scorer in 11 of 14 games this season, and has posted 20 or more points in seven of those outings. Taren O'Brien is also scoring double figures with a 10.7 ppg mark.

Meanwhile, SIU is coming off a 33-point loss to Indiana State (1/16). The Salukis are led by Danette Jones' 9.2 points per game. Katie Berwanger follows with 8.8 points and a team-leading 8.9 rebounds. In addition to Jones and Berwanger, Wendy Goodman has also been playing well as of late. Goodman came off the bench to post career-highs in both points (16) and rebounds (11) against the Sycamores.

SIU leads its overall series against ISU, 40-39. Both teams have split their two-game series the last two years with the visiting team winning each of those matchups.
