    CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The Missouri Valley Conference announced its women's basketball Scholar-Athlete Teams Tuesday, and Southern Illinois junior Jordyn Courier earned Honorable Mention laurels.

    A combination guard/forward from Delevan, Wis., Courier played in all 29 games this season for the Salukis, making 20 starts. Courier ranks fifth on the team in scoring through the regular season at 6.6 points per game. The 3-point specialist ranks ninth in the MVC in 3-point percentage (.368) and 12th in 3-pointers made per game (1.5).

    Courier holds a cumulative 3.854 GPA in psychology. She is the first Saluki to earn MVC Scholar-Athlete honors since the 2009-10 season.

    The MVC will announce its All-Conference selections Wednesday in advance of the MVC Women's Basketball Tournament, which begins Thursday in St. Charles, Mo. No. 10 seed SIU will face No. 7 Evansville in the first round of the MVC Tournament at 7:05 p.m. Thursday.
