CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois women's basketball program signed Blair Stephenson (St. Louis, Mo. / Cardinal Ritter HS / Lake Land College) and Micah Norris (Murfreesboro, Tenn. / Blackman HS) to National Letters of Intent, head coach Cindy Stein announced on Wednesday. Combined with Kylie Giebelhausen and Celina Van Hyfte, whom Stein signed in the fall signing period, the SIU signing class for 2014-15 is at four players.

"Blair and Micah are impressive young ladies, and we can't wait for them to join Kylie Giebelhausen and Celina Van Hyfte as members of our incoming recruiting class for 2014," head coach Cindy Stein said. "They will be solid contributors to our championship vision."

Blair Stephenson (5-7 / Guard) was a 2014 NJCAA DII All-American at Lake Land College this past year and is a two-time All-Region 24 selection. She was the 2013 Lake Land Freshman of the Year and 2014 team MVP. She finished the 2014 season ranked No. 10 nationally in assists per game (6.2), No. 31 in 3-point field goal percentage (.462), and No. 47 in scoring (17.0 ppg). At Cardinal Ritter, Stephenson was a team MVP, Saint Louis All-Area selection and AAA All-Conference selection in addition to being a St. Louis Post Dispatch Scholar-Athlete team selection.

    Coach Stein on Stephenson
"I am thrilled to get someone as talented as Blair in the point guard position. She is a driven competitor and a natural leader both in actions and vocally. She has superb passing skills combined with good handles and can score getting to the basket or the 3-point shot.

"Blair is a young lady that first got on my radar as having to prepare to stop her when I coached at ICC. We ran into her twice, and she was a tough assignment. It will be awesome to be on the same side now. She has been extremely well coached and is sure to make an immediate impact with our team. We are honored to obtain someone of her caliber athletically and academically."

Micah Norris (5-11 / Guard) is a three-star recruit by ranked as a top-60 wing in the class of 2014. She was a big contributor on Blackman's 2014 state championship team. With Norris last year, Blackman (34-1) was ranked No. 1 in the nation by ESPN and No. 1 in the state of Tennessee, and Norris earned National Player of the Game honors on Dec. 27, 2013. The all-around guard averaged eight points, three assists, five rebounds and three steals on the season to earn 2014 All-District honors, and her AAU team, the Tennessee Flight, won the 2013 national championship.

    Coach Stein on Norris
"Micah is a from a nationally ranked high school program that knows what it takes to be successful. She is a fierce defender with quick hands and will fit well into some of the things that we want to do defensively. Offensively, she gets to the rim very well and is an explosive athlete. Micah has good court vision and crashes the offensive boards extremely hard.

"We are excited for Micah to join us in our pursuits and feel that she will make immediate contributions."

Stephenson is a transfer and will have two years of eligibility remaining and majoring in secondary education, while Norris will be a freshman, have four years of eligibility and is undecided in her academic pursuits.
