CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Saluki women's basketball head coach Cindy Stein has announced SIU's non-conference schedule for the 2014-15 season.

Following a home exhibition game against Quincy on Nov. 7, Southern will hit the road to open the regular season at Tennessee-Martin on Nov. 14 and at Wright State on Nov. 22. Both schools are coming off of first-round appearances in the NCAA Tournament in 2014. The Skyhawks tallied 24 wins last year en route to the Ohio Valley title, and the Raiders notched 25 wins and a conference trophy of their own in the Horizon League.

The Salukis then come home to SIU Arena for a four-game home-stand. First, SIU will host Memphis on Nov. 26 -- the first meeting between the two schools since Nov. 23, 1998. After Thanksgiving, regional foe Southeast Missouri State will make the short trek from Cape Girardeau for a 6:05 p.m. tilt on Nov. 28. Two days later on Nov. 30, the Mercer Bears will make their second-ever trip to Carbondale -- the first since SIU won 62-59 on Dec. 20, 2002.

Rounding out the home stretch will be a visit from the University of Illinois on Dec. 6 at 2:05 p.m. For the Illini, this is the first trip to Carbondale since Dec. 9, 1995. The subsequent three meetings (1996, 2007, 2013) have all taken place in Champaign.

Southern will then travel to Austin Peay on Dec. 13 before returning home on Dec. 16 for its final home non-conference matchup against Murray State.

After finals, the Salukis will make a trip to The Big Easy for the New Orleans Shootout on Dec. 19-20. SIU will square off with Oregon State on Dec. 19 and Toledo on Dec. 20. The Beavers are coming off a 23-11 season in 2013-14 in which they advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and finished with a final RPI of 34.

Just before the new year and the start of the conference season, Southern will wrap up its non-conference schedule at Morehead State on Dec. 30.

"I am very excited about the upcoming schedule," Stein said. "It is definitely one of the tougher ones that we have played in quite some time. It will be challenging but we want our players to understand the level that we want to play at every game. This competitive schedule will prepare us for the rigors of the Missouri Valley Conference schedule. There is not any easy game on the slate and we will have a firm understanding of where we are heading into conference play. We can't just claim we are better, we will have to prove it and I am anxious to see our players rise to this challenge."
