    CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University will officially unveil the renovated SIU Arena to the public on Thursday with a grand opening ceremony at 4:45 p.m.

    The event tips off with a reception at 4 p.m. on the east concourse of the arena, followed by a formal program. Southern Illinois University president Glenn Poshard, University Chancellor Rita Cheng, Director of Athletics Mario Moccia, men's basketball coach Chris Lowery, women basketball coach Missy Tiber and other SIU dignitaries will deliver remarks.

    Both the men's and women's basketball teams will be present for the event and sign autographs for fans afterward. This is the first opportunity for fans in the community to see the renovated arena from the inside, as the grand opening is free and open to the public.
