    ORLANDO, Fla. - The Southern Illinois University women's golf team finished sixth out of 14 teams competing at the Peggy Kirk Bell, which ended earlier today. The Salukis shot a 318-328-312--958 on the two-day event.

    SIU, who struggled in its second round of the tournament, improved its final round score by 16 strokes to post a strong finish.

    Amy Rankin tied for 14th with a 80-79-75--234 to lead all SIU individuals. Stefanie Pate (T37th) and Kelly Gerlach (T42nd) rounded out the Dawgs' top three performers. Pate shot a 79-84-82--245, while Gerlach clubbed a 77-81-89--247.

    The University of Miami won the tournament, while Rollins College, James Madison, North Carolina-Greensboro and Penn State rounded out the top five.

    SIU returns to action at the Snowbird Intercollegiate on Mar. 11-12.
