LAS VEGAS - The Southern Illinois women's golf team is in fourth place halfway through the Bison Invitational, hosted by Bucknell. Amy Lee led SIU in the first round with a 76 and is tied for 12th overall. Ashleigh Rushing, Shaina Rennegarbe and Mattie Lindner are all one stroke behind Lee and tied for 17th overall.

"I'm excited the entire team played solid," head coach Alexis Mihelich said. "When your drop score is a 79, it's a good day. We are a come-from-behind team, so we plan on moving up the leaderboard tomorrow."

Lee, a freshman, has won finished in the top-20 in three of the last four tournaments and has led the squad twice this season, including a tournament win at SIUE DoubleTree Intercollegiate in September.

Ashleigh Rushing, Rennegarbe and Lindner all are one stroke behind Lee after all shooting a 77 in the first round. The trio is tied for 17th overall. Lindner tied a career best with her 77 in the first round. Cassie Rushing (79) rounded out the squad.

Southern's team score of 307 is a fourth-lowest team round of the season for Southern. SIU is leading the other Missouri Valley Conference school in the tournament. The Salukis are 17 strokes ahead of Creighton.
