    CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - The Southern Illinois women's golf team is tied for fourth place after one day at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate. The 10-team field will play the final round tomorrow, beginning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start at the Clarksville Country Club.

    "We didn't play fantastic, but we didn't play poorly," head coach Alexis Mihelich said. "We had all five players play consistent, and tomorrow we will have better scores and come back."

    Ashleigh Rushing, Shaina Rennegarbe and Mattie Lindner all are tied for 16th individually after firing 79s in the first round on the Par-72, 5,960-yard course. Cassie Rushing (80) and Amy Lee (81) were right behind. Amber Phillips was set to compete as an individual but withdrew due to a family emergency. The Salukis are one of three teams in the tournament with all five scorers among the top 30 individuals.

    The Salukis are just one stroke back of host Austin Peay for the third-place spot in the tournament. SIU is eight shots behind second-place Morehead State and 16 strokes behind tournament leader Jacksonville State.

    Jacksonville State leads the tournament by eight strokes over Morehead State. Jacksonville State's Omella Arrizon and Luz Armijo-Fernandez are tied for the individual lead after each shooting 73 in the first round.
