ST. LOUIS -- Senior Saluki women's golfer Cassie Rushing was named the co-women's golfer of the week by the Missouri Valley Conference, the Valley announced Wednesday.

This is the fourth career MVC weekly honor for Rushing, a native of nearby Marion, Ill. She currently leads SIU with an 18-hole average of 76.3, which is also the fourth-best in the conference in 2013-14.

Rushing was SIU's overall individual leader at the Eagle Landing Invitational this past weekend, where the Salukis finished fourth overall. Rushing finished tied for fourth individually, and led the entire tournament after the second round after shooting a 36-hole score of 143 -- the fifth-best score in school history. Included in that was a second-round 70, which is the second-lowest single-round score in her SIU career. Her 54-hole score of 220 not only was good for fourth overall in the tournament, but also ranks as the fourth-best in SIU history as well.
