St. Louis, Mo. - Cassie Rushing has been named the Missouri Valley Conference women's golfer of the week, the league announced Wednesday.

This is the first weekly honor for the freshman and the first for the Salukis in two years, when Kate Laegeler took home the award on April 2, 2009.

Rushing finished up an impressive two days with a second overall finish to help the SIU women's golf team finish fourth out of 11 teams at the NIU Snowbird.

The freshman from Marion, Ill., completed day two with a 74 and closing out the tournament with an overall score of 146, which was two strokes back from the winner Heather Petronis of Saint Leo University.

As a team, the Salukis combined two day total came out a 626, just two strokes behind third place Murray State. Saint Leo University took home the title with a 608, while Longwood University finished second with a 613.
