CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Saluki women's golf returns home to host its lone home tournament of the season with the 20th iteration of the Saluki Invitational at Hickory Ridge Golf Course on Sunday and Monday.
Coming to Carbondale will be 13 schools, giving the tournament a total of 83 golfers in competition. SIU will split into an "A" and "B" squad that will feature all 11 golfers on Southern's roster. The tournament will only be two rounds (36 holes), with one round played on Sunday and Monday each. Hickory Ridge's 18-hole course is 6,017 yards long and is played at a par of 72.
Southern is coming off a strong fourth-place finish at the highly-competitive Eagle Landing Invitational on March 16, where the Salukis only shot two rounds 80 or above -- the fewest such rounds under head coach Alexis Mihelich. Senior Cassie Rushing finished tied for fourth overall at a three-round total of 220 -- the fourth-best 54-hole total in school history. Currently, the Salukis rank second in the Missouri Valley Conference standings with a scoring average of 77.77 and lead the Valley in tournament wins with two.
Day One will begin with a shotgun start at 10 a.m.
