ST. LOUIS - Alisha Matthews has been named to the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Golf Scholar-Athlete First-Team, the league announced Friday.

This is the second year in a row that Matthews has been named a first-team honoree. She holds a 3.61 GPA in recreation and is one of the seven women's golfers throughout the league to be named to the first team.

Matthews, a senior from St. Louis, wrapped up her Saluki career Apr. 22-24 at the MVC Championships, where she shot a career-low and tournament record round of 67 (-5) to help the Salukis tie for third place overall. She also earned medalist honors with a top finish at the SIUE Intercollegiate during the fall and was named the MVC Golfer of the Week twice in 2011-12.
