ST. LOUIS - Southern Illinois signee Brooke Cusumano (St. Louis, Mo. / Westminster) earned All-Metro girls Player of the Year from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the publication announced Saturday. Cusumano won her second straight individual state title earlier this fall.

"It's exciting to have a player of this caliber joining the squad next year," head coach Alexis Mihelich said. "We're thrilled about her achievements and the recognition she brings to the university and women's golf program."

Cusumano won the individual state title in both her junior and senior years. Her individual crowns led the way for a Westminster squad that won the team title in each of the last two years, as well. Westminster's 91-stroke team win in 2011 was a Missouri record. Cusumano also placed second in the St. Louis Women's District Golf Association Championship and second at the Gateway PGA Junior Championships in 2012.

Cusumano will join the Salukis in the fall of 2013 as a freshman.
