Former Saluki standout Haley (Viefhaus) Karayiannis is in her second season as a volunteer assistant with the Salukis.
The former infielder joined the Salukis in the 2011 season. Karayiannis played for the Salukis from 2001-2004 where she earned numerous records and awards including most at-bats in a season (8th, 178), most doubles in a season(t-9th, 12), most at-bats in a career (7th, 596), most doubles in a career (6th, 31).
Karayiannis also helped the Salukis to two consecutive NCAA Regional appearances, one in 2003 - where the Salukis were regional finalists - and the other in 2004.
A native of Pacific, Mo., Karayiannis, a physical education teacher, now resides in Carbondale with husband Jimmy and children Ella and Tyler.
