The Salukis (4-4) got revenge against Georgia Southern (5-2) Saturday afternoon topping the Eagles with a convincing 10-1 victory at the FGCU Softball Complex.

Southern Illinois' offense barraged Georgia Southern as SIU combined to score 10 runs off 14 hits, including two seventh-inning home runs to sweeten the score.

Georgia Southern got on the board in the first inning scoring their only run of the game. SIU starter Brittney Lang was an ace in the circle holding GSU the remainder of the game, pitching a complete game and giving up only one run and one walk.

Southern Illinois got right to work in the second inning, scoring one run to even the score. Jayna Spivey singled to bring in Meredith Wilson.

The third and fifth inning each saw one run to give the Dawgs a two-run edge.

The Saluki hitters got hot in the final two innings of the ball game. Jayna Spivey doubled to lead off the sixth inning. Lacey Newbold followed suit hitting a solid single to score Spivey. SIU scored two more runs with the help from a GSU error and single from Taylor Orsburn.

Jayna Spivey once again was the leadoff man for Southern Illinois in the seventh inning. Spivey connected sending the ball to left field, hitting a home run off the scoreboard to record her 19th career home run.

Michelle Bradley and Kelsea Ashton reached the bags bringing Taylor Orsburn up to the plate. Orsburn hit a two-run home run to lift the Salukis to their 10th and final run of the game.
