FORT MYERS, Fla.-- No. 1 Alabama used three multiple-run innings to defeat the Salukis 10-1 Sunday to claim the tournament title in the final day of the Florida Gulf Coast University tournament.

"We let this game get more out of hand than it should have," said SIU head coach Kerri Blaylock. "I am proud of our offense, they really kept attacking the entire game."

Southern Illinois' loss to the Crimson Tide drops its record to 4-6 while Alabama remains undefeated going 5-0 over the weekend to now boast a 10-0 record. The 2012 NCAA National Champions have not lost a tournament since the 2011 College World Series.

The Salukis lone run of the day came in the first inning. First baseman Taylor Orsburn doubled to left field and was advanced home by a sacrifice fly from Allie VadeBoncouer.

Alabama pitcher Leslie Jury struck out six Salukis and allowed only one unearned run on four hits.

SIU starter Brittney Lang (3-3) received the loss Sunday giving up 10 runs on 12 hits.

Taylor Orsburn had two hits while Allie VadeBoncouer and Meredith Wilson each contributed one hit apiece.

Southern Illinois has played the No. 1 team four times since 1995 and lost each time.

"We need to regroup and understand that it is a very long season," said Blaylock. "I feel like we should be able to right the ship. We want to have a good week of practice and come out next weekend and play well."

The Salukis return to action next weekend when they travel to Clearwater, Fla. for the NFCA Leadoff Classic.
