    SIU vs. Evansville Game Notes

    CARBONDALE, Ill. - The No. 19 Saluki softball team (15-3) opens Missouri Valley Conference play with a doubleheader at Evansville on Wednesday at 3 p.m.

    Southern enters the 3 p.m. match up after having gone 4-2 during the previous week at home, including a win in its last two games.

    Evansville (3-9) is coming off a 1-4 weekend at the South Florida Tournament, but won its final game against Lehigh 2-1.

    The Salukis, who lead the all-time series 49-17, took 2-out-of-3 from the Purple Aces last season and won their only game at Evansville 2-0.

    SIU dropped one spot in the USA Today/NFCA poll to No. 19 after losing twice over the weekend, but remain at No. 23 in the Softball top 25 poll which was released today.

    Both games of Wednesday's doubleheader can be heard live online through Saluki All-Access, and live gametracker will also be available through the SIU softball webpage.

    Following the midweek games, Southern Illinois will return home for a Saturday doubleheader (12 and 2 p.m.) and single-game Sunday (12 p.m.) against Drake.
