CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois softball team will host their first fall exhibition game Saturday, Sept. 19 at Charlotte West Stadium.

The tournament will feature John A. Logan College, SIU-Edwardsville and Southeast Missouri State.

The Salukis are coming off their 13th straight 30-win season after posting a 33-13 overall record last season.

"We're excited and ready to get going," head coach Kerri Blaylock said. "It will be good to check out some different positions, new lineups and compete against somebody other than ourselves."

The team consists of four seniors, six juniors, five sophomores and four freshmen.

"They've been doing very well in practices," Blaylock said. "It's a jump when a freshman comes into start and new transfers start to mesh with the team. Now it's time to take that next step and see how they do in game situations."

The Salukis will play John A. Logan at 11 a.m. and face SIU-Edwardsville at 3 p.m. The second Round Robin tournament will take place Sunday, Sept. 27 featuring Lake Land College, Southeast Missouri State and Southern Indiana.

Admission for the tournament $5 for adults and $3 for children.
