    NFCA Top 10 All-Academic Release

    CARBONDALE, Ill.-- The Southern Illinois softball team earned a No. 4 ranking in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's 2012 All-Academic team rankings, which the NFCA released Tuesday.

    SIU held a team GPA of 3.582 to come in behind Robert Morris (3.609), Northern Colorado (3.603) and Kent State (3.596). This marks the second consecutive season the Salukis have been ranked in the top five after a program-best tying No. 2 ranking in 2011. All-told, SIU has earned nine NFCA All-Academic top-10 rankings since 2001.

    Mallory Duran-Sellers became SIU softball's 23rd Academic All-American in 2012. Nebraska is the only Division I program with more Academic All-Americans with 29.
