    ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Saluki swimmers Nora Bunford and Marcelo Possato were named Missouri Valley Conference Swimmers of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday, Nov. 24.

    Bunford, a sophomore from Budapest, Hungary, picked up her third swimmer of the week honor this season and her second award in as many weeks. At the Northwestern Invitational Nov. 19-21, she won the 50-yard breaststroke in a time of 29.28. She finished eighth in the 200 IM (2:07.63), fifth in the 100-breaststroke (1:04.10) and third in the 200-breaststroke (2:20.76).

    Bunford's performances in the 200 IM and 100-breaststroke, were personal bests as she sits atop the MVC standings in both events. She is second in the 200-breaststroke and the 400 IM.

    Bunford made the finals in all of her individual events, scoring 68 points for the fourth place Salukis. Host Northwestern won the invite with 1,113 points, followed by Missouri (996.5) and Pittsburgh (903.5). Southern (613.5) finished above Division III national champion Kenyon College (340.5).

    On the men's side, Marcelo Possato, finished second in three events at the Northwestern Invitational. The senior from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, broke his own school records in the 100-back (48.95) and 200-back (1:45.92). He qualified provisionally for the second-straight year in the 200-back. He also finished second in the 50-back in a time of 23.56.

    Northwestern won the five-team invite with 1,033.5 points, while Pittsburgh (907), Missouri (880.5), SIU (691) and D-III national power Kenyon College (485) rounded out the field.
