    Saluki Women's Tennis: 2015 Season in Review

    The SIU women's tennis team finished the season in fourth place in the Missouri Valley Conference.


    SIU falls to Wichita State, 4-0, in the MVC semifinals

    The Salukis finished the season with a 16-10 record overall and 5-4 in the MVC.


    SIU tops Evansville, 4-2, to advance to semifinals at the MVC Championships

    The Salukis' three seniors clinched three of SIU's four wins at the No. 1, 5 and 6 singles spots.


    Saluki tennis players earn All-Conference, Scholar-Athlete recognition

    Ariadna Cairo Baza and Yana Golovkina earned All-Conference recognition for No. 3 doubles.


    Salukis enter MVC Championships ranked fourth in the conference

    SIU will take on No. 5 Evansville on their home courts to open tournament play on Friday at 10 a.m.

    2014-15: Earned MVC All-Conference recognition at the No. 3 doubles position…Had the best doubles record on the team against MVC opponents with partner Yana Golovkina at 7-2, with both losses against nationally-ranked Wichita State…Went 14-5 in doubles play in dual matches, 15-13 on the season overall…Went 17-13 in singles play on the season, primarily from the No. 5 spot…Had the clinching match in SIU’s win over No. 74 ranked Northern Illinois… Contributed to SIU's record-breaking 12-match win streak, the longest in Saluki history…Selected as an MVC Honorable Mention Scholar Athlete…Named to the MVC Honor Roll.

    2013-14: Finished the year 16-18 overall in singles play...Posted a 3-3 singles record in the MVC...Went 20-12 in doubles play...Finished 5-1 in the MVC in doubles play with partner Polina Dozortseva.

    2012-13: Finished the year 18-10 overall in singles competition...Went 6-2 in the fall season and 12-8 during the spring...Finished 4-2 in the MVC in singles...Played primarily at the No. 4 and 5 positions.

    2011-12: Competed in 22 singles matches, finishing 16-6 in singles play...5-2 in MVC singles play...Finished 8-in doubles play...Won four straight matches from Apr. 14, 2012 to Apr. 22, 2012...First collegiate win came on Sep. 10, 2011 against Alexis Garrett of Morehead State in a 8-5 singles victory.

Born April 16, 1993 in Barcelona, Spain...Previously ranked No. 64 in Women's Open in Spain...Has a twin sister who also plays tennis at SIU... Participated in swimming and poetry also while in school.
