    Clarksville, Tenn. - The Southern Illinois women's tennis team picked up its first win of the young season at Austin Peay on Saturday, defeating the Govs, 6-1. The Salukis won 5-of-6 singles matches and 2-of-3 in doubles.

    The Salukis (1-3) picked up the first point of the match in doubles after senior Anita Lee and freshman Meagan Monaghan won their match at the No. 2 slot, 6-2. Polina Dozortseva and Ariadna Cairo Baza followed by defeating an Austin Peay duo, 6-1.

    The Salukis clinched the match easily in singles play winning five matches. Natasha Tomishima defeated Andra Cornea, 6-0, 6-3, at the No. 1 slot. Monaghan picked up her second win of the spring season, defeating Orella Di Salvo, 7-6, 6-7, 12-10 at the No. 2 slot.

    Lee won her match at the No. 3 spot 6-3, 6-2, while Dozortseva picked up a win at the No. 5 position 6-3, 6-4.

    The Salukis play host to Chicago State next Friday at University Courts. First serve is slated for 10 a.m.
