HARDIN, Ky - The Southern Illinois women's tennis team had no problems defeating Murray State today, 6-1, marking the fourth straight win for the Salukis.

Southern (4-1) took the doubles point from the Racers (1-2) after Anita Lee and Korey Love bested Carolyn Huerth and Katie Hagan, 8-3 at the No. 3 spot. Melanie Delsart and Anastacia Simons improve to 4-1 on the season after besting Carla Suga and Megan Blue, 8-3.

"Sometimes we slow down to the pace of our opponent and let them get back into matches," said head coach Audra Nothwehr. "I really wanted to stress going at our own pace and finishing strong like we did."

SIU continued its dominance during singles play winning 5-of-6 matches. Senior Jennifer Dien defeated Huerth in straight sets to win her fifth match of the season. Natasha Tomishima and Simons bested their Murray State counterparts in two sets. Gisela Cairo Baza won her seventh straight match, defeating Katie Hagan (6-0, 6-2) at the No. 6 spot.

"We worked really hard to establish position so that we could be more aggressive," Nothwehr said. "I thought we did a good job of this during today's match and we were able to come out and get a good win."

The Salukis will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 22 when they host Austin Peay and McKendree University for a doubleheader. First serve is set for 12 p.m.
