Boca Raton, Fla. -- The Southern Illinois women's tennis team wrapped up its Florida trip earlier today with a 6-1 win over Florida Atlantic.
The Salukis have won nine straight matches, marking the longest winning streak in program history while continuing to build on its best start in school history.
Southern took the doubles point from the Owls (6-7) easily as Anastacia Simons and Melanie Delsart won 8-0 at the No. 1 spot putting the duo at 21-2 on the season. Natasha Tomishima and Jennifer Dien continue to dominate, winning their match 8-3 at No. 2 while Korey Love and Anita Lee won by default at flight No. 3, 6-4.
The Salukis continued their stellar play into singles action, winning 5-of-6 matches. Delsart defeated Catalina Ene (6-4, 7-6(3), 6-1) at the No. 1 spot while Dien bested her FAU counterpart (6-4, 7-6(4), 6-1) in flight No. 4.
Sophomore Natasha Tomishima came back from being down a set and 1-5 in the second set to win six games straight, while taking the third set to win her match at the No. 2 spot (2-6, 7-5, 6-3).
Gisela Cairo Baza won her tenth straight match today after defeating Natasha Phillips (6-0, 6-1) at the No. 6 spot while Ariadna Cairo Baza won (6-1, 6-0) in flight No. 5.

SIU will be back in action on Thursday, March 21, at 3:00 p.m. when they play host to Tennessee-Martin.
