CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois women's tennis team fought back after being down 2-0 in singles play to win their home match against Eastern Illinois 4-3.
At the number three position Zoya Honarmand easily won in two sets 6-1, 6-0.
Amanda Taillefer enjoyed a 6-1, 6-1 win over Jill Wirtz at the four spot to even the singles wins at two a piece.
"I am really pleased with the way the team battled back after being down 2-0 in singles," said tennis coach Rene Vidal. "It took a team effort to fight through that challenge."
The match was tied 3-3 heading into doubles play. Blanco and Palovic won the number one game 8-4. In the number two doubles match Sandra Sasidharan and Stephanie Harmazy edged out Taillefer and Honarmand 8-6.
Bredniak and Maher took the number three doubles match 8-1, earning the doubles point for the Salukis.
"Heading into doubles," said Vidal. "We felt confident in our ability to win."
