WICHITA, Kans.- The Southern Illinois women's tennis team fell to the nationally ranked Shockers (No. 68) earlier today, 7-0. The Salukis (12-4, 2-1 MVC) were swept for the first time this season by WSU, and lose their first road match of the year.

Wichita State captured the doubles point, winning two of three matches to gain a 1-0 lead. The Saluki duo of Melanie Delsart and Korey Love, won the only match for Southern today, defeating Lucia Kovalova and Delia Damaschin at the No. 1 slot, 8-4.

"The score doesn't reflect how close the match was, we had four or five points that could have went our way, "said head coach Audra Nothwehr. "We have to use this as a stepping stone, and be ready to see them in the conference tournament."

In singles action, Delsart fell to Lutfiana Budiharto at the No. 1 spot, 6-2, 6-0, ending her nine match winning streak. Gisela Cairo Baza fell at the No. 6 spot in three sets, 1-6, 6-1, 6-2.

The Salukis will be back in action Tuesday, when they travel to Martin, Tenn. to take on the Skyhawks. First match is slated for 2 p.m.
