    CARBONDALE, Ill.- The Southern Illinois women's tennis team defeated Drake this afternoon, 4-3.

    The Salukis (14-4, 3-1 MVC) didn't waste any time as they took the doubles point from the visiting Bulldogs, winning at the No. 2 and No. 3 slots. Anastacia Simons and Anita Lee defeated their DU counterparts 8-3, while Jennifer Dien and Natasha Tomishima secured the doubles win for the Dawgs, coming back to win their match, 9-7. Melanie Delsart and Korey Love fell in their doubles match at the No. 1 slot, 7-5, (8-0).

    "This weekend is probably the hardest weekend of the season, because we have two really good teams coming here," said head coach Audra Nothwehr. "This was a big win for us, we need to refocus for UNI tomorrow."

    The Salukis won three singles matches, just enough to clinch the win against DU. Melanie Delsart defeated Manca Krizman 7-5, 7-5 at the No. 1 slot, giving Krizman her first lose of the season. Ariadna Cairo Baza won her match at the No. 5 spot 6-2, 7-6, (5-0), and Natasha Tomishima came back to win her match at the No. 4 position 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 to clinch the 4-3 win for the SIU.



    The Salukis will be back in action tomorrow when they host Northern Iowa. Tomorrow will mark the last home match of the season for the Salukis, first match is slated for 10 a.m. at University Courts.
