PEORIA, Ill. --The Southern Illinois women's tennis team recorded its second sweep of the season with a 7-0 win over Bradley at the David Markin Tennis Courts in Peoria on Friday.

The Salukis (15-7, 4-1 MVC) set the tone early picking up the doubles point with wins at each flight. Ariadna Cairo Baza and freshman Polina Dozortseva improved to 4-1 in Missouri Valley Conference play, defeating Ariel Dechter and Cassia Wojtalik 8-3 at the No. 3 spot. The duo have won eight of their last 10 matches. Meagan Monaghan and Natasha Tomishima picked up an 8-3 win at the top spot, while Korey Love and Anita Lee won 8-6 at No. 2.

The Braves (4-15, 0-5 MVC) were no match for Southern, as SIU won all six matches in singles play. Senior Anita Lee played the most thrilling match of the day. Her matchup with Ariel Dechter was a rematch from the MVC Individual Championships that were played earlier in the season. Lee fell behind, losing the first set 5-7, before taking the second set, 6-4. The senior rallied to win the third set with a 15-13 super tiebreaker. The win marks the 19th of the season for the Las Vegas, Nev. native.

Sophomore Gisela Cairo Baza picked up her seventh win in her last 10 by defeating Liz Prystawski at the No. 6 slot 6-0, 6-1 while her twin sister, Ariadna Cairo Baza won easily at the fifth spot (6-1, 6-1).

Tomishima bested her BU counterpart 6-4, 6-3 and Dozortseva won her match at the No. 4 slot 6-2, 6-2. Monaghan picked up her third MVC win with a 6-2, 6-3 win at the No. 3 spot.

"We've been talking about how to get off to a strong start in our matches," said head coach Audra Anderson. "I was happy to see us jump with a lead in singles."

The Salukis have a crucial match at Illinois State Saturday that will determine where the team is seeded going into the MVC tournament. SIU currently sits at 4-1 in the MVC, tied with Drake (4-1) for second. The Bulldogs and Wichita State (5-0) are set to meet tomorrow.
