    CARBONDALE, Ill. -- With a 7-0 win over Creighton (8-10, 1-5 MVC) today at University Courts, the Southern Illinois women's tennis team is set to take on Wichita State tomorrow for the Missouri Valley Conference Regular Season title.

    In singles action Melanie Delsart improved to 5-1 in MVC play after besting Jennie Hartjes (6-0, 6-3) at flight No. 1. Natasha Tomishima won (6-2, 6-1) against Analese Snyder at No. 2 while Anita Lee won (6-4, 4-6, 10-7) at No. 3.

    Sophomore Ariadna Cairo Baza improves to 4-1 in MVC play after defeating Liz Vermillion (6-1, 6-1) and Anastacia Simons won (7-6, 6-0) at No. 6. Senior Jennifer Dien came back to win her match (7-5, 6-0) after being down 1-4 in the first set to pick up her 19th win of the season.

    In doubles play the Salukis were dominant, winning all three matches. The duo of Korey Love and Lee continue to have success, winning 8-3 against Analese Snyder and Karlin Naslund to pick up their 14th straight win. Dien and Tomishima won 8-5 at No. 2 while Delsart and Simons won at the No. 1 spot, 8-5.

    "The girls played really well today and we are ready for tomorrow," said head coach Audra Nothwehr.

    Prior to Sunday's match, Saluki seniors Melanie Delsart, Jennifer Dien, and Anastacia Simons will be recognized.



    Southern has a chance to secure the MVC Regular season title for the first time since 1985 when they host Wichita State tomorrow at University Courts at 10 a.m.

    During Sunday's match Saluki Tennis will be hosting a tailgate where hotdogs, chips and soda will be available for free to all Saluki fans while supplies last.
