    OMAHA, Neb.- The Southern Illinois women's tennis team fell in the semifinals of the Missouri Valley Team Championships to top-seeded Wichita State, 4-0, on Saturday, ending its season with an 17-6 overall record.

    No. 58-ranked Wichita State (20-5) began the match by winning two of three doubles matches.The Shockers then took three singles matches to end the contest, according to MVC tournament rules.

    The Salukis lone win came in doubles play at the No. 1 slot where Korey Love and Melanie Delsart bested the Shocker duo of Delia Damaschin and Lucia Kovalova, 8-5.

    SIU finished this season with the highest winning percentage in school history at .739, the highest since the 1982-83 season when the Salukis finished 12-7 overall for a .735 winning percentage.

    Southern will return all players from the 2012 campaign, including ITA ranked Melanie Delsart who finished the season with a 17-6 singles record, and 17-5 in doubles play, primarily with partner Korey Love.

    "We played with a lot of passion today, but Wichita was just on their game," said head coach Audra Nothwehr. "We have all of our player returning and we will be that much better next year while having another year of experience."
