CARBONDALE, Ill.-- The Southern Illinois women’s tennis team is set to host Austin Peay and McKendree University in a Friday afternoon doubleheader.

SIU (4-1) comes into tomorrow’s matches on a four-match winning streak after defeating Eastern Illinois and Murray State last weekend. Southern picked up its first sweep of the season at Eastern Illinois, 7-0.

The Salukis continue to have success in doubles play where they are a combined 36-14 (.720) on the year. Melanie Delsart and Anastacia Simons are leading the way for the Southern with a 16-2 record. Jennifer Dien and Natasha Tomishima are not far behind with a 11-4 record on the year.

Austin Peay enters the weekend with a 0-4 record. The Governors fell to Middle Tennessee State earlier in the week, 6-1. APSU is led by Ornella Di Salvo who is 3-4 in singles play.

McKendree is coming off a season opening sweep of Missouri Baptist University. The Bearcats had four players post straight set shutouts of their opponents in their opener. McKendree is coached by Southern Illinois alum, Chris McMillin.

First serve is set for 12 p.m. vs Austin Peay and 6 p.m. vs McKendree. Matches will be played at Sportsblast in Carbondale.
