SKILLMAN, N.J. -- The Southern Illinois women's tennis team entered the national rankings at No. 59 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings released today. This marks the first time in school history that the Salukis have been nationally ranked by the ITA.

"We are excited about receiving a national ranking and accomplishing something that has never been done in the history of this program," said head coach Audra Nothwehr.

Southern is off to its best start since the 2003-04 campaign and coming off a weekend sweep of Austin Peay and McKendree University.

"The sky is the limit with this team -- they are so focused and are training hard," said Nothwehr. "We also know that this is just a stepping stone to where we want to go. It’s just a poll -- it’s not a conference championship, and that is our ultimate goal."

The Salukis will be back in action Tuesday, March 12, when they head to Miami, Fla. to take on Florida International.
